Steps to Fix Proxy Server Refusing Connections in Firefox
Check and Disable Proxy Settings in Firefox:
- Open Firefox.
- Click on the Menu button (three horizontal lines) in the top-right corner.
- Select Settings (or Options).
- Scroll down to Network Settings at the bottom and click Settings....
- In the Connection Settings window, choose No proxy or Use system proxy settings.
- Click OK to save changes.
- Restart Firefox and check if the issue is resolved.
Check Windows Proxy Settings (if using system proxy):
- Press
Windows + Ito open Settings. - Go to Network & Internet > Proxy.
- Under Manual proxy setup, make sure the proxy server is turned Off unless you specifically use one.
- If you use a proxy, verify the address and port are correct.
- Restart Firefox and try again.

Clear Firefox Cache and Cookies:
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Menu button > Settings > Privacy & Security.
- Scroll to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data.
- Select Cached Web Content (and optionally Cookies and Site Data) and click Clear.
- Restart Firefox.
Check for Malware or VPN Software:
- Sometimes malware or certain VPN/proxy tools can interfere with proxy settings.
- Run a full system antivirus scan.
- If you are using VPN software, try disabling it temporarily to see if it resolves the connection issue.
Reset Firefox Settings (if the problem persists):
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information.
- Click Refresh Firefox.
- This will reset Firefox to default settings and remove add-ons but keep your bookmarks and passwords.
If after these steps the problem persists, it could be an issue with your network or ISP blocking proxy connections.
